Central Air Conditioning Energy Cost and Emissions Calculator
Select your nearest location, central air unit's SEER rating and enter its capacity (in Btus) in the final box to see operating costs and pollution impact.
If you know the capacity of the central air unit you need, you can see the difference that a higher efficiency rating (SEER) will make in both dollars saved on your energy bill and polluting emissions. Remember that in selectng an air conditioning unit, sizing the unit properly is critical. Oversize units will only waste energy by running in short inefficient cycles -- they won't keep your home cooler. Always look for Energy Star units to get the best value for money and to reduce emissions. Click here for more information about Energuide and Energy Star.
